Approval of last year’s minutes

Unanimous (11-0).

Reports from officers: Chair

• Thank you to all contributors to the branch over the last year.

• Positive year for the branch. Note that we have had some female members.

• No interaction with other branches.

• Some questions that the officers may want to consider over the coming year:

  • Would meetings benefit from a more formal structure? For example, limiting each case to 15 minutes?

  • Perhaps we should provide new members with an introductory documentary, which includes a precis, signposting and links? (Other branches might already be doing this.)

  • Can we run workshops, publicising these to other branches?

Reports from officers: Treasurer

• £581 in bank account (£5 increase).

• Charities bank account: no interest, tax or charges

• Branch constitution means that we need three signatories on branch bank account (currently Alain, Arthur and Glyn).

• Some questions that the officers may want to consider over the next year:

  • Should we move to electronic banking with one signatory?

• Members other than Alain needed to take initial phone calls to our branch. (Initial calls typically 15-60 minutes long.)

• Collections should happen at every meeting.

• Can we develop a mentoring system, where new members are ‘buddied up’ with experienced members?

• Majority of books in the branch library are now out of date. The lending system run c.2012-14 was not a success.

Actions

• Senate e-mail list: update for new committee members.

• Change of address letter, and new mandate for bank, still to be completed.

  • Letter for bank to be signed by Alain, Arthur and Glyn.

  • Letter to bank with new committee members.
